A September Hike with Oktoberfest Spirit

A beautiful night for a hike through Lincoln and Estabrook Parks ending at Old Heidelberg Park for the first night of Octoberfest. Music, food and beer made for a perfect end to our evening.

This evening's destination has a special place in Milwaukee's German-American history. The roots of Old Heidelberg Park reach back to the 1920's, when local German clubs began gathering on the property along Port Washington Road. Over the decades, the grounds became a center for German cultural and sporting activities and eventually the home of the Bavarian Soccer Club.
Today, the Bavarian Bierhaus and Old Heidelberg Park carry on that tradition, including Milwaukee's Original Oktoberfest, a celebration felled with German food, beer, music and plenty of Gemutlichkeit.
For our hikers,it was a particularly Milwaukee way to finish an evening on the trails - a good hike, good company and Oktoberfest waiting at the finish!
